Even though I saw numerous "average" or "negative" reviews on varied sites I still went ahead and bought these boots. They are gorgeous in both pictures and when they come out of the box. Also, they fit nicely. However, on my first day of wearing these boots (on pavement), the brown leather (the pair I bought are the Brown) just came off showing a white color underneath right nearby the toe. Also, some minor scuffs appeared nearby.
If I could return them, I would. For $100, they are not worth it. As someone said, "great idea, poor execution". I decided to give the boot 3 stars though, since visually it is intelligent and they do fit nicely. But, the fact that they do not last, and for how long they last, is unacceptable.
